It could be related to those problems...I can't say...I'm still on 1.3.69. However, in the past, when I've had errors almost identical to that, especially with the cdrom, what I've found fixed it was to disable (for the cdrom) scsi disconnect in the 1542's bios settings.
Try it and see if it works...
