Hello
We are experiencing usb mouse freezing with different 2.4.x kernels (tested: 2.4.1, 2.4.17 and 2.4.20). In 2.4.20 it's actually much more frequent than in the older ones. The freezing lockups only happen when the ide disk is active and the mouse is being moved during that time. If 2 usb mice are plugged in and I only use one, then only this one freezes and the other still works (until it freezes as well). Detaching and reattaching the mouse or switching from X to the console and back to X resolves the problem. Looking at /proc/interrupts tells me that there are no more interrupts coming from the ohci-controller for the frozen mouse. Further investigations (making procfs outputs from usb-ohci) have uncovered that the 'Skip' flag for the frozen usb mouse is set even though there are still transfer descriptors pending.

My guess would be that an SOF (start of frame) interrupt (1/ms) gets lost and thus the 'skip' bit of the usb mouse is not reset.
I already posted this problem to the USB users mailing list 4 weeks ago but no one seemed interested in it.
I would be very happy if someone could give me a hint on how I could solve this problem... If you need additional information I'll be happy to provide it.
cheers /Patrik
