As additional info that I forgot... I've tried both 2.2.17pre4 and 2.2.17pre9 kernels. I still can't get 2.4.0test2-ac2 happy so I haven't tried it.

Here's the behavior: - My brother dials up and connects to my machine for IMAP and/or ssh from Win2k - Works fine - His modem disconnects, he yanks the phone cord, his ISP drops him, whatever... an abortive disconnect - He dials up and tries to reconnect - He fails... he reboots... it fails - He reboots into Linux... it succeeds - He reboots into Win2k... it fails - I reboot my server... it succeeds
A tcpdump of the IMAP traffic shows he SYN's me, send me his first data packet I think, and then I FIN him. I get nothing but the standard end stream message in imap. This smells like kernel bug.
