After switching consoles a couple of times, it the switch no longer succeeded but hanged. I had to reboot. Noe that I can access the log, I see:
Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0) Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0) Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: SysRq: Show Regs Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: EIP: 0010:[cpu_idle+55/76] EFLAGS: 00000246 Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: EAX: 00000000 EBX: c01f2000 ECX: c2282000 EDX: c01f2000 Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: ESI: 00098800 EDI: c0106000 EBP: 000000a0 DS: 0018 ES: 0018 Jul 25 12:58:54 babbage kernel: CR0: 8005003b CR2: 08194478 CR3: 00101000
(The show regs was issued by me although I never saw the output.) This also shows that the clock has stopped completely, it was ~21.00 when I pressed sysrq-p - the machine stopped responding ping at ~13.00.
Stuck on TLB IPI wait... Perhaps this is a BP6 problem after all?
