Two strangeness noticed about 2.3.99pre3, otherwise all seems OK.
First strangeness:
The Makefiles don't seem to obey INSTALL_PATH anymore - it blithely ignores and installs the kernel and its map files to the root despite INSTALL_PATH being set to /boot!
Second strangeness:
I'm getting a lot of NMI interrupts - didn't happen with 2.2.x kernels.
tahallah[root]:/var/log # cat /proc/interrupts CPU0 CPU1 0: 22722 11028 IO-APIC-edge timer 1: 1546 492 IO-APIC-edge keyboard 2: 0 0 XT-PIC cascade 8: 0 0 IO-APIC-edge rtc 12: 747 81 IO-APIC-edge PS/2 Mouse 13: 1 0 XT-PIC fpu 14: 1090 1240 IO-APIC-edge ide0 15: 0 2 IO-APIC-edge ide1 NMI: 33720 33720 LOC: 33640 33338 ERR: 0
Doesn't seem to be fatal though, but I remember getting this with the early 2.1.x kernels before being fixed for 2.2.x.
System configuration:
Linux tahallah 2.3.99-pre3 #20 SMP Fri Mar 24 19:10:03 GMT 2000 i686 unknown Kernel modules 2.3.10 Gnu C 2.95.2 Binutils 2.9.5.0.22 Linux C Library 2.1.3 Dynamic linker ldd (GNU libc) 2.1.3 Linux C++ Library 2.8.1 Procps 2.0.6 Mount 2.9y Net-tools 1.52 Kbd 0.99 Sh-utils 2.0 Modules Loaded nls_iso8859-1 vfat nls_cp437 msdos fat
System is a Supermicro P6DNF based with two Pentium Pro 166 MHz processors, with 256MB of memory.
Any additional info, shout.
Cheers, Alex -- Fluff phasers on maximum plur!
