1. Kernel 2.3.51 Doesn't Boot On PowerBook G3
2. The kernel dies on initialization following checks of the hda bus. The last output is for scsi detection, and then the error message at the end of the message ensues. I have USB and Appletalk compiled (USB has modules, Appletalk would only compile in the actual kernel), as well as frame buffer support, which appears to work (I pass the kernel command line arguments about the video buffer through BootX).
3. kernel ppc powerbook boot
4. 2.3.51 (self compiled with above options)
5. Here is the death message: Machine Check in Kernel Mode Caused by (from SRRI=49030): Transfer error ack signal NIP: C00DB1D4 XER:20000000 LR: C00DEFDC REGS: C06fbd60 TRAP:0200 MSR: 0049030 EE:1 PR:0 FP:0 ME:1 IR/DR:11 TASK= c06fa000[1] 'swapper' Last Syscall: 120 Last Math 00000000 Last Altivec 00000000 GPR00: FE00039C C06FBE10 C06FA000 00000390 0000039E 00000011 C06FBE48 00000005 GPR08: C0250000 FE000000 0000039C 000000FF 00000390 003400A4 0D2B4476 0E25AEB0 GPR16: 42000048 FFD12F10 0D2B5EB0 00000001 00000000 0E25B050 0E25B054 0E25AED0 GPR24: 00000000 0F0B4D84 C0185010 C0244A1C 00000000 00418510 C06FBE48 0000D01C Call Backtrace: C001E854 C00DEF50 C02698BC C02699D4 C0277CAC C0264764 C026320C C0256740 C02567DC C0003FA4 C000950C
7. Powerbook G3 / 1999. PPC 750@400 mhz. Booting on a 3.8G partition of an IDE drive on hda9. Connected to speakers, power supply, and 10BaseT network via the standard BMAC ethernet card.
I hope this is enough to give you some clue. If you want me to do a specific test, please don't hesitate to ask.
Many thanks, Christopher Tuttle, KD7ECQ
