Hello!
Yesterday my 2.2.10 box crashed after 64 days of uptime. It was stock UP 2.2.10 compiled with gcc 2.7.2.3 on Celeron 300A, 64M RAM, 100M SWAP.
That's what catched in logs:
swap_duplicate: entry e1000000, offset exceeds max swap_free: offset exceeds max Out of memory for X.
And after 10 minutes:
Unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address 66696732 current->tss.cr3 = 02fc6000, %cr3 = 02fc6000 *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0002 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010:[select_dcache+128/268] EFLAGS: 00010202 eax: 6669672e ebx: 6d2f6d6f ecx: c1325760 edx: 77777700 esi: 77777700 edi: c0f12420 ebp: 00000000 esp: c2fc9e94 ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process innd (pid: 194, process nr: 27, stackpage=c2fc9000) Stack: 000081b4 c0b80440 00000000 00000004 00001443 00000254 c1efc800 c012f368 00000195 00000000 00000000 c012f3a8 00000afc 00000000 c2fc9f54 000081b4 c0b80440 00000000 00000000 00000000 c012f635 00000000 c0139671 00000000 Call Trace: [try_to_free_inodes+28/52] [grow_inodes+32/396] [get_empty_inode+133/144] [ext2_new_inode+53/1760] [do_follow_link+124/136] [lookup_dentry+312/428] [ext2_create+35/360] [open_namei+366/864] [filp_open+70/248] [sys_open+56/132] [system_call+52/64] [startup_32+43/286] Code: 89 50 04 89 02 89 09 89 49 04 eb b6 85 db 74 20 8b 7b 48 89 Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000100 current->tss.cr3 = 00101000, %cr3 = 00101000 *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0002 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010:[prune_dcache+40/224] EFLAGS: 00010206 eax: c01baca8 ebx: c1325760 ecx: c1efcfe0 edx: 00000100 esi: c07f0000 edi: c1efc7e0 ebp: 00000847 esp: c0097fb0 ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process kswapd (pid: 4, process nr: 4, stackpage=c0097000) Stack: 00000030 c0096000 c012e781 000008ee c011fc8f 00000006 00000030 00000000 c01a1184 c00961c1 c011fcf7 00000030 00000f00 c009dfb4 c0106000 00000e00 c010732b 00000000 00000f00 c01c7fd8 Call Trace: [shrink_dcache_memory+33/40] [do_try_to_free_pages+103/120] [tvecs+5152/23144] [kswapd+87/200] [get_options+0/116] [kernel_thread+35/48] Code: 89 02 89 1b 89 5b 04 8d 7b e0 83 7b e0 00 75 d0 8b 53 fc 8b Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000104 current->tss.cr3 = 01ce3000, %cr3 = 01ce3000 *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0000 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010:[prune_dcache+32/224] EFLAGS: 00010207 eax: 000008df ebx: 00000100 ecx: 00000006 edx: 00000001 esi: 00000006 edi: 00000015 ebp: 000008df esp: c1f19f20 ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process rnews (pid: 31228, process nr: 33, stackpage=c1f19000) Stack: 00000015 bffff884 c012e781 000008df c011fc8f 00000006 00000015 00000001 00000015 00000001 c011fd8b 00000015 c1f18000 fffffff4 c012051e 00000015 bffff884 fffffff4 00000001 bffff884 00000015 00000000 bffff8b2 c0107a00 Call Trace: [shrink_dcache_memory+33/40] [do_try_to_free_pages+103/120] [try_to_free_pages+35/48] [__get_free_pages+114/444] [sys_sigaction+148/256] [getname+24/144] [__namei+17/92] [sys_newstat+19/100] [system_call+52/64] Code: 8b 53 04 8b 03 89 50 04 89 02 89 1b 89 5b 04 8d 7b e0 83 7b
And then it hung. No VT svitch, no network. Reset button to cure.
And a lot of oopses virtually for any procees that was at that time in system similar either to 1st or 2ns oops.
Is this already fixed in 2.2.11?
Bye, Oleg
