AFAIK the Alpha and the POwerPC can do Both. For the PowerPC it doesn't matter (just have to tell him). On the Alpha the best mode is Big Endian - little endians slows the beast - afaik being little endian 32 bits is the best way to slow the beast : exactly what NT does.
