Like someone suggested, I modprobe-d it :-(
The full dump of the .config file, dmesg output and System.map file are attached:
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer deference at virtual address 00000000 current->tss.cr3 = 03ed0000, %cr3 = 03ed0000 *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0002 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010:[<c01d70d5>] EFLAGS: 00010046 eax: 00000000 ebx: 00000003 ecx: 00000002 edx: c0d19800 esi: c3379c00 edi: 00000000 ebp: 00000000 esp: c3e35e44 ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process modprobe (pid: 282, process nr: 7, stackpage=c3e35000)
By the way, after removing all the other Adaptec drivers (now that I was certain that only the aic7xxx was needed), I was able to see and use the disk I had out there. It seems another one must have decided to load, interfering with aic7xxx. It also did not oop when I probed it.
