Hi,
This is 2.2.10 UP kernel.
There was a kernel opps at boot (/etc/init.d/network) :
Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000 current->tss.cr3 = 05be7000, %cr3 = 05be7000 *pde = 00000000 Oops: 0002 CPU: 0 EIP: 0010:[<c6c1b426>] EFLAGS: 00010246 eax: 00000000 ebx: 000000a6 ecx: 00000033 edx: 00000014 esi: 00000001 edi: 00000000 ebp: c0005ec0 esp: c5e4bee0 ds: 0018 es: 0018 ss: 0018 Process insmod (pid: 69, process nr: 12, stackpage=c5e4b000) Stack: 00000014 c6c1da54 00000000 00000000 00000080 ffffffff c6c1b20c 00000000 00000070 00000000 0000de00 00000009 00000001 00000000 c6c1b000 00000000 c6c1b050 ffffffea 0000de00 00000009 00000000 00000000 00000000 81390107 Call Trace: [<c6c1da54>] [<c6c1b20c>] [<c6c1b000>] [<c6c1b050>] [<c6c1d0d7>] [<c0115a7b>] [<c6c1b000>] [<c6c1db1c>] [<c6c1db2c>] [<c6c17000>] [<c6c1b048>] [<c0109dd4>] [<c6c1b000>] Code: f3 ab 8b 44 24 14 89 45 5c 8b 3d f0 da c1 c6 89 78 0c 89 2d
After booting :
root@stargate:~# lsmod Module Size Used by [...] rtl8139 11052 1 (uninitialized)
And ping <some machine in localnetwork> casues infinite loop of opps at the screen with growing and growing size of call trace section of opps and finally a 'nice' reboot at the end.
I don't know what the problem can be since this machine works for days without any problems and in some cases there is NO opps at the boot and then ping and other things works, but sometimes there is the opps and then ...
Sorry, but I don't know too much about opps reporting : I can't resolve the numeric values in my report since imho they're in the rtl8139 module so gdb vmlinux like solution does not work for me ;-(
Thanx, Gabor.
