I have the same MO drive, but revision is 1200 (kernel sees it as an optical drive insted of "direct-access" because I changed one the the jumpers).

In my case, kernel don't detect the disk change :( and when I mount a new disk I see the dir tree of the previuos one --> when I umount the disk the old tree is written on the disk - bye bye 600MB :-(((
