Indeed. What about, as some of us will never forget, the horror of
rm -<your favourite flags here> .??*
Wouldn't it be sane to have '.*' not include the parent directory, or not expand (per default) to '..*'. How many examples are there where 'commmand .*' actually should, or is expected to include '../'?
