Subjectbug : swap, swapfiles
Hi,

here enclosed is a bug report concerning swapfiles, swapon,
and kernel 2.2.6 or 2.2.7. Sorry, we couldn't run ksymoops ... we
don't have iberty libs (if usefull, we'll try to get them ...)

[1] Segmentation fault while turning on a swap file

[2] I use either 2 swap partitions or 1 swap file (when
I idle my scsi unused disks). At boot time, I
turn on my to swap partitions. I used to run a
small shell script doing :
1) swapoff -a
2) swapon /var/tmp/swapfile
I had no problem until the 2.2.2, and then I installed
the 2.2.6 (and today the 2.2.7) versions. When swaping
on the swapfile, I get a segmentation fault :

If I first turn on the swap file and then turn off the others,
the problem doesn't appear. Another surprising thing : if we create
the swapfile with :

dd if=/dev/zero of=swapfile bs=1024 count=8192
mkswap swapfile 8192

just before turning it on, it works as well. But once we've rebooted,
it's just as for the old ones : swapon fails.
