Hi,
I've been working on a version of the DECnet for Linux patch for the 2.3.xx series. I think I've got it just about correct, but I can't test it since my test machine won't boot. It appears to be something to do with the new wait queue stuff, maybe it only affects serial consoles...
On boot I get:
Partition check: hda: hda1 hda2 VFS: Mounted root (ext2 filesystem) readonly. Freeing unused kernel memory: 96k freed tty_io.c: process 1 (swapper) used obsolete /dev/cua0 - update software to use 0 bad magic 0 (should be c008c66c, creator 0), wq bug, forcing oops. Unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at virtual address 00000000
followed by an oops like this....
>>EIP: c0112dc4 <__wake_up+54/10c> Trace: c01fe3cc <shutdown+34/1dc> Trace: c01ffd33 <rs_close+12f/1cc> Trace: c01ffd3c <rs_close+138/1cc> Trace: c01f081b <release_dev+28b/7c8> Trace: c011e1f7 <handle_mm_fault+f7/1dc> Trace: c012a043 <fput+17/48> Code: c0112dc4 <__wake_up+54/10c> 00000000 <_EIP>: <=== Code: c0112dc4 <__wake_up+54/10c> 0: c7 05 00 00 00 movl $0x0,0x0 <=== Code: c0112dc9 <__wake_up+59/10c> 5: 00 00 00 00 00 Code: c0112dce <__wake_up+5e/10c> a: 83 c4 04 addl $0x4,%esp Code: c0112dd1 <__wake_up+61/10c> d: 8b 4d fc movl 0xfffffffc(%ebp),%ecx Code: c0112dd4 <__wake_up+64/10c> 10: 83 c1 04 addl $0x4,%ecx Code: c0112dd7 <__wake_up+67/10c> 13: 89 00 movl %eax,(%eax)
I hope that will give someone enough of a clue to find the cause, if any more info is required then please ask.
The DECnet patch will appear on the ftp site (ftp.sucs.swan.ac.uk) when I can manage to get it tested further, its not really much changed from the 2.2.7 patch which is already there, its just a bit neater,
Steve.
