I didn't catch the original thread but I think that any chipset that has been used with SMP will do APIC even if there is only one CPU (on a one CPU mobo). So, they would be the Intel P5 chipsets (FX/HX/VX), Ppro and P2 chipsets.
I think Ingo would know more, him being the APIC king. ;-)
