Don't know if this has been noticed yet but I'm hoping this gets to Mr. Alan Cox or one of you other smart people to fix. When I compile either of the pre-patches for the *.6 kernel _with_ FAT file systems supported, it compiles (make dep) fine, but I get the following errors when making a zImage or a bzImage:
make -C fat make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux/fs/fat' make all_targets make[3]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux/fs/fat' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c fatfs_syms.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o buffer.o buffer.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o cache.o cache.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o dir.o dir.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o file.o file.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=586 -c -o inode.o inode.c inode.c: In function `fat_read_super': inode.c:369: warning: left-hand operand of comma expression has no effect inode.c:369: parse error before `)' make[3]: *** [inode.o] Error 1 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/fs/fat' make[2]: *** [first_rule] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/fs/fat' make[1]: *** [_subdir_fat] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux/fs' make: *** [_dir_fs] Error 2 [root@routine linux]#
It seems to me like this may be a `simple' fix around line 369 of inode.c but I'll leave that up to you crafty code guys. Thanks for your time!
