Subjectoops with 2.2.3

while recompiling some stuff, i got the following oops. it looks like
something related to the dcache stuff got corrupted, but i can't
figure out what might have triggered it. any ideas?

system: udb/alpha, using egcs-1.1.1
binutils 2.9.1.0.15
