Thanks for forwarding the info about the release. I got it working once I recompiled the kernel to use the serial driver as a module!
Note for other dummies like me:
It looks like you need to have configured the kernel to use the serial driver as a module, not builtin. I broke things by trying to load the serial module with a kernel using a builtin serial driver. Everything was ok once I rebuilt...
If you have a 16650V2:
Also, I happen to have 16650V2 uarts so I had problems with the new setserial until I added "#define PORT_16650V2 7" before the #ifdef PORT_16650V2.
