I am also having problems with lockups on a SMP machine... last thing I see in the syslog is
Feb 16 21:53:10 ntserver kernel: Unexpected interrupt 8 Feb 16 21:55:34 ntserver kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0) Feb 16 21:55:34 ntserver kernel: stuck on TLB IPI wait (CPU#0)
anybody knows what this means exactly?
afterwards X is frozen, inetd accepts a telnet connection but does not get further than the greeting message.
clean 2.2.1, dual pentium (not II) board, 64M ram, adaptec 7880, ne2k ethernet, .config at http://www.lrz.de/~huettel/config.txt
APM is disabled.
thanks a lot for any help, Andreas
