I have checked atrun and cron and neither of the job schedulers have anything running (to the best of my LIMITED knowledge.) I keep getting lines like this in my /var/.../messages file.
Jan 2 19:53:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 20:13:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 20:33:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 20:53:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 21:13:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 21:33:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 21:53:18 ServerX-- MARK -- Jan 2 22:13:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 22:33:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 22:53:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 23:13:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 23:33:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 2 23:53:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 3 00:13:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 3 00:33:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 3 00:33:47 ServerX in.telnetd[931]: connect from 192.168.XX.XX Jan 3 00:33:53 ServerX in.telnetd[933]: connect from 192.168.XX.XX Jan 3 00:33:57 ServerX login[934]: User LOGIN on `ttyp1' from `AAAAA.BBBBB.com' Jan 3 00:34:07 ServerX login[932]: User LOGIN on `ttyp0' from `AAAAA.BBBBB.com' Jan 3 00:53:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 3 01:13:18 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 3 01:33:19 ServerX -- MARK -- Jan 3 01:53:19 ServerX -- MARK --
Heh, I understand the telnet daemon and logins, but what I cannot figure out is what the hell `--MARK--` < is? It comes every 20 minutes? And only when the computer is not being used. I mean only when a user is logged in and "away" from the terminal or the telnet is sitting in the background in Windows.
I thought that it might have something to do with SAMBA, but I have read the docs and seen nothing which discusses this. ___________________________________________________________________ You don't need to buy Internet access to use free Internet e-mail.
