Which gcc do you use (gcc 2.7.x, gcc 2.8.x, egcs, pgcc) ? If you don't know, what distribution do you use ? And does it fail regularly like this ? > make[2]: *** [open.o] Error 1 > make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.3.29/fs' > make[1]: *** [first_rule] Error 2 > make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.3.29/fs' > make: *** [_dir_fs] Error 2" > > I'm running Linux 2.2.9-27mdk > Version: #1 Thu Nov 25 16:31:37 EST 1999 > Machine: i686 > > X-Server > vendor string : Linux Mandrake (XFreee86 3.3.3.1, X-TT 1.2.1, patches) Most of this information was irrelevant, especially about sound modules/hardware configuration/X servers. But this line tells us you're running Mandrake, about whom I read many bug reports (compiling the kernel with bad compilers etc). > > I don't know how much of the above info is relevant, if any isn't please tell. > Please tell me if I lack vital info. You need a working compiler (try gcc-2.8.1). Btw: Try to reproduce the problem. It could also be a hardware fault (although improbable). > > Thanks a million, > > losmurfs@bellsoutn.net > is. > > - > To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe linux-kernel" in > the body of a message to majordomo@vger.rutgers.edu > Please read the FAQ at http://www.tux.org/lkml/ >
