In 2.3.24 the value of RLIM_INFINITY has been changed from ((long)(~0UL>>1)) to (~0UL). This is an incompatible interface change! This means that programs like bash compiled for kernels before 2.3.24 do not work any more with the newer kernels and vice versa.
