How did you do this? (code?)

pthread_create is not a C++ function, so such problems can be expected.
However, it should be easy to fix this with a cast. Please send the
offending line and the error message.

You should probably use pthread.h, if you mena that. thread.h is not part
of the interface the linux libc offers.
