Yesterday I downloaded 2.2.14pre5 and patched our 2.2.13 kernel. Unfortunately compiling the kernel provokes the following:
make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux-2.2.14pre7/arch/i386/kernel' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux-2.2.14pre7/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -fno-strict-aliasing -D__SMP__ -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m486 -malign-loops=2 -malign-jumps=2 -malign-functions=2 -DCPU=686 -c -o smp.o smp.c smp.c: In function `init_smp_mappings': smp.c:775: `FIX_IO_APIC_BASE_0' undeclared (first use in this function) smp.c:775: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once smp.c:775: for each function it appears in.) make[1]: *** [smp.o] Error 1 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/linux-2.2.14pre7/arch/i386/kernel' make: *** [_dir_arch/i386/kernel] Error 2

The fix is quite simple, simply delete the '_0' on FIX_IO_APIC_BASE for both of these files (smp.c and io_apic.c in arch/i386/kernel) and build. Thinking maybe it was just me, I dowmloaded 2.2.14pre7 and patched a clean copy of our 2.2.13 kernel. The same problem is there.
Cheers, Alex. -- What's a greek cat's favourite meal? Mouse-saka! (I know, it's awful - but I daren't use some of my more risqué jokes)
