Actually this bug has existed for a long long time on the kernel 2.1.xxx and somehow seems to have been forgotten.
What happens is that we can no longer see the characters correctly in the console mode. From a terminal shell on X it works but not in a console mode. And yes the locale ISO-8859-1 as well as codepages 850 and 863 are compiled in the kernel, same as I did for 2.0.36 where it works.
The environment variables for the chars and fonts are the exact same as under the other kernel but it seems that this kernel refuses to load them.
Any solution?
I run RedHat 5.2 (French install) and I am currently not a subscriber to the newsletter, it annoys my wife to have so much stuff in the EMAIL. There could be a better way that using the EMAIL for this don't you think?
