Subject2.1.91 kmod + scsi_hostadapter
Date
Hi,

don't know if this is result of the kmod or some other change:

- single processor PentiumPro, i440FX chipset, additional 2S + 1P board

- kernel 2.1.91

- modutils 2.1.85

- parallel port ZIP drive

- parport, SCSI and ZIP stuff as module:

CONFIG_PARPORT_MODULE
CONFIG_PARPORT_PC_MODULE
CONFIG_SCSI_MODULE
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_SD_MODULE
CONFIG_SCSI_PPA_MODULE

- PPA set as scsi_hostadapter in /etc/conf.modules

alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc
options parport_pc io=0x378,0x278 irq=7,5
alias scsi_hostadapter ppa

- ZIP set in fstab as

/dev/sda4 /mnt/zip vfat noauto,umask=0,uid=500,user 0 0

When I try to mount the /mnt/zip, only the scsi_mod and sd_mod
get loaded and the mount fails. The ppa and parport stuff
doesn't get loaded.

modprobe ppa does function as expected.

This was not the case with kerneld under 2.1.89, nor did I have
any problems with IDE CD-ROM module loaded automagically
when needed.

Regards

P.S.: I have also experienced some very odd swapping behaviour
with symptoms similar to those mentioned on the list.
