Hi folks,
yesterday I bought a new Iomega Zip Drive. It runs as master /dev/hdc together with a slave CD-ROM drive. My mainboard is a Gigabyte GA586TX.
I've enabled the ATAPI Floppy option and made a new kernel.
The computer is dual boot Win95/Linux. In Win95, the Zip drive runs fine as drive D:, but in Linux there are the following boot messages:
<4>Linux version 2.0.33 (root@antje) (gcc version 2.7.2.3.f.1) \ #12 Fri Mar 27 10:06:25 MET 1998 <4>Starting kswapd v 1.4.2.2 <4>ide: i82371 PIIX (Triton) on PCI bus 0 function 57 <4> ide0: BM-DMA at 0xf000-0xf007 <4> ide1: BM-DMA at 0xf008-0xf00f <4>hda: WDC AC31200F, 1222MB w/64kB Cache, CHS=621/64/63 <4>hdb: IBM-DAQA-33240, 3098MB w/96kB Cache, CHS=787/128/63, DMA <4>hdc: IOMEGA ZIP 100 ATAPI, ATAPI FLOPPY drive <4>hdd: CD-524EA, ATAPI CDROM drive <4>ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14 <4>ide1 at 0x170-0x177,0x376 on irq 15 [...] <3>ide-floppy: hdc: I/O error, pc = 5a, key = 5, asc = 24, ascq = 0 <3>ide-floppy: Can't get drive capabilities <6>hdc: 98304kB, 32/64/96 CHS, 4096 kBps, 512 sector size, 2941 rpm <5>hdc: The drive reports both 100663296 and 0 bytes as its capacity [...]
antje:/root # mount -t vfat /dev/hdc /zip mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdc, or too many mounted file systems
Is there a patch available to keep the ATAPI floppy driver up to date?
Regards, Gerry
