Subjectgreased ggi anyone?
There is one particular aspect of ggi that has always struck me as
making sense: putting video mode switching into kernel space.

Hypothetically, for the moment, what would it take implement this
pearl? I can think of three things:

(1) putting that part of the kggi interface into a development kernel.
(2) patch X to support this ioctl
(3) patch svga to support this ioctl

Ultimately, I'd like to be able to take any running graphics program,
hit it with kill -9 and not lose my console.
