Hi,
I recently upgraded my proxy server from 2.0.33 to 2.1.89. This created the following problems for every client connecting to it, be it Netscape, MSIE or Lynx:
- If a Web Site is not responding instantly, there will be no reaction until you click its link or enter its name again.
- If this also fails, I get the message "Your browser sent a message this server could not understand" regardless of what browser I am using or what software the server is running (so I suspect it is generated by squid).
I've been having these problems before with older 2.1.X kernels before I changed the proxy server to 2.0.X, but I did not realize they were caused by using a different kernel. They were gone with 2.0.X and came back immediately when I switched back to 2.1.X.
The proxy server software is squid 1.1.20. I recompiled it under 2.1.89, but to no avail. I am using libc-5.4.38.
What could be wrong? --- Carelessly planned projects take three times longer to complete than expected. Carefully planned projects take four times longer to complete than expected, mostly because the planners expect their planning to reduce the time it takes.
