On pre-2.1.90-2 I tried to run RealAudio 3.0 to play an audio stream, but my system froze completely and I had to use the reset button. Then I tried a second time and it rebooted itself. I tried it hours later and my system didn't die that time. RealAudio wasn't connecting so I checked the network activity and found that my system was sending out a flood of the same TCP ack packet to the server--about 2 packets every hundredth of a second! RealAudio used readv and writev several times before it looped waiting for a response, doing selects and reads with an EAGAIN response. Then I upgraded from pre-2.1.90-2 to pre-2.1.90-3. The problem is the same. There was another strange event when my modem's error correction caused some lag while I was pinging my gateway and returned with several duplicate replies, some about 5 packets off. I do that all the time and that has never happened before. I'm using pre-2.1.90-3 with no patches other than a compile fix.
