Part of the comment says:

This is bad. It *should* be a kernel option, just described
correctly.

The last thing people want if they bung that amount of memory in
their Linux box is to faff around with editing bits of the Linux
source code. IT IS NOT USER FRIENDLY.

Would it be possible to make the Linux kernel auto-detect "large"
amounts of memory and act accordingly? Or is this a "big job" ?
