Hi all,
Please refer to my earlier posting where I had asked for drivers for the AIC 7870. Thanks a lot for your replies. Now, I have another problem regarding the same:
I downloaded a slackware bootdisk called scsi.s for kernel 2.0.29. It is a large file: 793600 bytes since it has got all the scsi drivers compiled in. It doesn't have any n/w drivers. If I use the kernel of this boot disk which is some 690k approx., and try to install it using LILO, LILO complains saying it is too large.
Now, I have another working system with a 2.0.30 kernel and sources everything but IDE. I thought that I would compile a SCSI and N?W kernel on this machine and install it on the target. Got the kernel but during booting with this new 2.0.30 kernel, i get a message saying:
AIC7xxx: Downloading sequencer code...done. AIC7xxx: Resetting the SCSI bus...done. scsi1: scsi bus busy, waiting upto five seconds. scsi1: bus busy, attempting abort
and the system hangs.
I *don't* get this problem with the Slackware Boot Disk. Now what might be the problem? Is the driver at fault? I had got a 2.0.29 kernel and a patch to 2.0.30.
Thanks,
sachin
