Hi there.
I'have tracked down an annoying problem I have with latest Compaq deskpro with pentium II cpu's at work. (Deskpro 6000/6266X)
The problem: Linux will keep on rebooting right after executing the init_bh "call" (macro defined in include/linux/interrupt.h) in drivers/char/keyboard.c:kbd_init.c at boot time. You'll say "Don't buy compaq crap" and i'll reply "yeap, but my boss love compaq crap..."
The keyboard controller used on this board is a NS PC87306. http://www.national.com/pf/PC/PC87306.html
I spent two nights commenting out pieces of code in the kernel, (starting from where the computer auto-rebooted on startup) rebuilding, rebooting the Compaq from floppy, and so on, being able to narrow down to this init_bh.
But now, I'm not kernel guru enough to understand what's happening in init_bh. This macro seem really simple and doesn't mess in any way with registers of the keyboard controller, or irq etc..
Could someone help me make linux boot on this box? I don't want to see NT running on that one :)
Cheers.
Here's the minimalist kernel config file.
