I ran screen (v 1.54, 03-Dec-92) and detached it, and all tty/pty dependent things just hanged. Screen just said "[detached]" and after that nothing happened. VC switching was ok, and I could try to login, but after typing password in the next VC hanged too.
Another problem I had was with objdump (v 2.8), since it no longer supports "-k", the old kernel won't compile anymore. Suggestions?
I am currently running RedHat 4.1 with new libc, binutils and modutils on a 486 DX2.. There aren't any hw problems (except a timer prob. but that's irrelevant ;)), so this wasn't any memory-corruption thing.. The kernel was a bzImage, because it wouldn't compile as zImage.. (548KB)
