SubjectEXT2 error causes panic?
Linux 1.3.98

Bad computer day...had a drive go south on me. I had two problems
associated with this that seem like they should be fixed.

#1 - When the error occurred the system kept repeating:

May 7 07:05:14 medusa kernel: Current error sd08:02: sns = f0 3
May 7 07:05:14 medusa kernel: ASC=11 ASCQ= 0
May 7 07:05:14 medusa kernel: Raw sense data:0xf0 0x00 0x03 0x00 0x56 0x8a 0x4c
0x0a 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x00 0x11 0x00 0x00 0x80
May 7 07:05:14 medusa kernel: scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:02, sector 3621446
May 7 07:05:16 medusa kernel: SCSI disk error : host 0 channel 0 id 0 lun 0 ret
urn code = 18000002

Shouldn't this eventually timeout? Whatever happened to bad block remapping?

#2 - When trying to mount the drive to recover what I could, the kernel
panic'd when it had problems reading the inode bitmap. Since this wasn't
the system disk shouldn't it have just refused to mount rather than panic?
