You should contact the people of the GGI project
- they had to change major parts of the console driver, in order to make it work with the concept of kernel loadable device drivers. Thus, any changes you make to the current console driver, are likely to be lost, when GGI makes it into the official kernel (which might still be a little down the road, though).
- Their concept of loadable drivers might actually simplify your problem. Maybe it would be possible to include a loadable driver for the Braille output device.
