Since upgrading from 1.3.57 to 1.3.67 (and 1.3.71) our ISP server machine has begun leaking memory. I haven't been able to gather any exact data, since our machine has died only 3 times (yet), and the last one happened while I was watching. Before that we had absolutely no idea has had happened, since Linux has nasty habit of not unblanbking after crash.
Anyway, here's everything that seems important: - No IDE - 2x SCSI disc, 1x SCSI CD, connected to AHA-2940 ultra. Doesn't seem to be disk buffer problem. - 3c509-C ethernet adapter. - Every time there was at least one active PPP connection and I think either PPP or generic networking code is leaking. - Oops, almost forgot that we added another "dumb" 16550 serial card to the machine. However I doubt that serial code would mess up like that?
So far my insta-fix for the situation was to add another 32MB of RAM to the machine and start observing memory situation nearly hourly. So far with uptime of 26 hours 20 Mb of RAM is marked "in use" without anything using it. (about total of 30 Mb is in use on "idle" machine. Normal figure should be ~10M...)
So here goes the oh-so-often-uuttered-phrase: "Has anyone else observed similar problems and if so, what do you have in common?"
