We have a network of linux machines. We were recently loaned a DX4/100 on a recent gigabyte PCI motherboard. This machine works perfectly except it refuses to reboot under linux. A keyboard reboot works fine under msdog A software reboot program also works fine.
It will get part way through and lock the machine solid. I've turned off anything vaguely related in the bios. Turned off caches etc.. Linux probably overwrites those choices anyways...
I finally figured that perhaps an strace of a reboot would help. It looks normal to me. Can anyone help?
Rob
open("/var/log/wtmp", O_WRONLY|O_APPEND) = 3 time([827062567]) = 827062567 write(3, "\1\0\377\277\0\0\0\0~\0\4@^\374\377"..., 56) = 56 close(3) = 0 sync() = 0 sigprocmask(SIG_BLOCK, [ALRM], []) = 0 sigaction(SIGALRM, {0x4005e2a0, [], 0}, {SIG_DFL}) = 0 time(NULL) = 827062567 alarm(2) = 0 sigsuspend([] <unfinished ...> --- SIGALRM (Alarm clock) --- <... sigsuspend resumed> ) = -1 EINTR (Interrupted system call) sigreturn() = ? (mask now [ALRM]) time(NULL) = 827062569 sigaction(SIGALRM, {SIG_DFL}, NULL) = 0 alarm(0) = 0 sigprocmask(SIG_SETMASK, [], NULL) = 0 reboot(0xfee1dead, 0x28121969, 0x1234567
Then it hangs solid. Keyboard will still reset if disconnected and reconnected but leds as unaffected by numlock etc.
