SubjectBuilding a simple boot floppy gets complex FAST in 1.3.75
It ain't me and it ain't memorex so it must be Linux...the second level
boot loader in 1.3.75 is missing the ball. When I try to boot, rather than
the horizontal march of the dots, I get a vertical march of the error
records. 1.3.75 boots fine from the fixed disk, where I use LILO as a
secondary loader (OS/2 Boot Manager being the primary), but a floppy built
by 'dd'ing the compressed image to the disk doesn't make it. I ripped the
system apart assuming that the problem was the dust bunny colony growing
beyond all bounds, but that was not it. I can build a half dozen trial
disks of 75 (under 74 or 75) and all fail identically, though a trial disk
of 74 built in the same session works fine.
