The advice about upgrading to 1.3.68 is correct. The 2940 driver is still being developed so it's definitely a good idea to use the latest driver (the Feb 1996 one), which was introduced sometime around 1.3.68. Its explicit goal was stability, and it seems fine so far (I am using 1.3.72, also with a 2940W).
