Before leaping into 2.1.17 I've tried to build a rescue disk. I'm using modules-2.1.13, libc-5.4.17 gcc 2.7.2
I build an old style ramdisk (ie non initrd) and the system boots ok
I find I can mount my mitsumi cdrom ok, but get errors tring to access my hard disks.
/proc/devices reveals 3 ide0 is present
mount -t vfat -oro /dev/hda1 /mnt gives an error that hda1 isn't a valid block device.
syslog reveals the error sequence
modprobe: can't locate module ide-disk kernel: hda: driver not present
the kernel certainly is compiled with the driver in and the hardware probe is working aok
any tips? -- Robin Becker
