I'm not sure if this is appropriate to this list, but i'll ask anyways. After upgrading from libc-5.3.12 to libc-5.4.13, i'm having problems with network programs and non fully qualified hostnames. For example, if 'search foobar.com' is in my /etc/resolv.conf and i execute 'telnet erf.foobar.com' it works fine. If i 'telnet erf', telnet dumps core. The same happens with ftp, ncftp, and ssh. The problem goes away if i downgrade the libc's back to 5.3.12. The problem also does not occur if the host is in my /etc/hosts file. The box is an i486 running redhat 4.0. and the 5.4.13 libc's were locally compiled (not a binary distribution). Anyone have any ideas or possible fixes?
Thanks, Roy.
