SubjectPartition table problem

I'd like to know where are the 10-15. bits of HDD cylinder number in the
partition table under linux.

Because I have a hdd containing 1600 cylinders NOT formatted with LBA.
There is a linux with 4 partitions, and the partition table is erased by
a DOS virus.

I succeded in recovering the partitions unsing cyilinders under 1024. But
2 partitions are over 1024 cylinders. I need help in fixing this problem.

I'm interested in the low level format of the partition table.
