This is a fairly common EIDE controller chip and I was wondering if anyone has had any luck at hacking a driver for it for Linux? I just sent some e-mail to WinBond to see if they could give me the programming specs for the chip, but I'm afraid the same thing will happen as when I tried to get some info out of Promise about their cards [avoid them like the plague].
So, before I start go hacking the piss out of the DOS driver, I just wanted to see if anyone has any leads or is working on such a thing already?
The performance of the 'stock' settings if pretty, um, bad. PIO Mode 4 hard drive getting 1MB/sec is crappy. It FLIES under DOS or WinLude 95.
