Ok, I see the issue now. I think the following fix would be the simplest:

- if (growth < t->threshold)
- continue;
+ if (!t->pending_event) {
+ if (growth < t->threshold)
+ continue;

- t->pending_event = true;
+ t->pending_event = true;
