Yes, what I meant is, in your proposal, the first kick after rest is a
hint that the driver is ok (but actually it could not).

Actuall, I meant we need to depend on the subsystem facilities to
handle this (e.g the rtnl_lock() ndo_XYZ) instead of inventing per
driver flags. I believe virtio is not the only driver that suffers
from those races.
