Should we also have:

if (leader->core.nr_members == 1)
leader->core.nr_members = 0;

Other wise say:

{instructions,cycles}

with a remove of cycles becomes:

{instructions}, cycles

rather than the previous:

instructions,cycles

Actually, looking at:
