I generally don't use any auto-completion other than automatic indentation (I have a tendency to spend more time fighting with auto-completion than writing code when I actually try to use it). In general, I would highly recommend not using an IDE for working on kernel code unless you can setup the auto-formatting to be compliant with the coding standards.
