Ah, no, the G4 is a 32bit processor.

I have an Xserve G5, which is a 64bit powerpc machine, and i could try it in it. I need to get the fans to a usable level first though, as it sounds like an airplan, and is sitting right beside my desk.

Yes, probably. This could mean that the board gets initialized for you, but not for me.
