OSS _drivers_ yes, OSS _api_ no.

Sure, and I have no problem with that. OTOH you'll notice that this
particular subthread was specifically about the OSS api, not the
drivers.

I couldn't predict 5 years ago that the ALSA API quality would be
somewhat lacking.
